Biography

Charles Jones studies the process of social change in modern societies. Over the course of his career, he has carried out numerous studies of work histories, labour markets, and changing family dynamics to further his understanding of what processes contribute to social change and how different processes relate to one another. Jones is also interested in the design of social surveys and the techniques used to analyze and interpret the data from such surveys.

Jones has written extensively about social stratification, processes of individualization, and data analysis techniques, authoring one book and co-authoring six others. He has also contributed chapters to seven other texts and edited a volume on social mobility.

Jones has served as a consultant for the federal government, producing reports for Citizenship and Immigration Canada and the Demographic Review Program of Health and Welfare Canada. He has also presented his work across Canada, in Mexico, France, and England.
