Biography

Hans-Arno Jacobsen holds a faculty position with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science, and teaches graduate classes in Trends in Middleware Systems and Operating Systems. His principal areas of research are middleware systems, distributed systems, and information systems. Professor Jacobsen received his Ph.D. with highest honors (summa cum laude) from the Institute of Information Systems, Humboldt University, Berlin in 1999. His current research is focused on information dissemination in large-scale distributed systems, and the application of aspect-oriented development techniques for the development of software, mostly middleware systems. The targets of his research are the data and information management community and the emerging middleware community. Professor Jacobsen is a regular contributor of scholarly works to international conferences and journals. He has served on program committees of various international conferences, including ICDCS, OOPSLA, Middleware, and VLDB. He was the Program Chair of the 5 th International Middleware Conference, and the Program co-Chair of the Symposium on Distributed Objects and Applications.
