Biography Professor Easterbrook received his Ph..D. (1991) in Computing from Imperial College in London (UK) on the topic of computer-supported negotiation. His first faculty position was in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the School of Cognitive and Computing Science, University of Sussex in Brighton, UK (1990-1995). He was then principal investigator of the NASA/WVU Software Research Lab (1995-1998), and Senior Scientist at the Institute for Software Research, Fairmont, West Virginia. There he pioneered the use of formal methods for V&V of mission critical systems, including flight software for Space Shuttle and Space Station. He moved to the U of T in 1999. Professor Easterbrook teaches courses in software engineering and requirements analysis. In January 2006, he will be introducing a new graduate course, Empirical Research Methods in Software Engineering. His research interests focus on the role of modelling in systems analysis, and automated reasoning over inconsistent information. He has published over 40 papers in the field of requirements engineering, and has edited a book on Computer Supported Collaborative Work.
